Lets have another conversation shall we this time about anti-blackness I shall be doing three different blog posts today addressing this topic.
First to address the parents yes you, I’m sorry to say I’m disappointed in how you continuously perpetrate anti-blackness and with your children. Do you know how hard it is to be black in this world, when your own parents do not value the skin you’re in?
I’m speaking to all black parents who force their colourist anti-black slave mentality on their beautiful creations. If children are to be a gift from god, then should you not hold gods gift to a higher standard then you would anyone else.
I in my 30 years here on earth have never seen so much colurist views until I joined twitter. Black people across the world here in the uk, America and the Caribbean sharing their experiences of how emotionally abused and battered they are just having to face the constant vile that comes out of their parents mouths.
Imagine opening your mouth and telling the child you gave life to, they are too dark, maybe you should bleach your skin, or my ‘fave’ one make sure you don’t spend too much time in the sun you don’t want to get darker. Just constant attacks that make you feel as small as possible.
So to the black parents I would like you do some things to unlearn your anti-blackness
1. Please stop getting into relationships with someone of the opposite race, in the vain hope that it will make your children come out light skinned. This is not always the case there are plenty of mixed race children who are darker then full black children you just never know how your children are going to turn out but continue to love them.
2. If you have a dark skinned daughter especially please and I mean please love her from the bottom of your heart, emotionally spiritually. Show her how to love herself, self love is very important!! Show her and your son in you are blessed with them that dark skin is nothing to be ashamed of and the deeper the melanin the more beautiful you are.
3. Read up on the history of colourism know thyself inside and out, you must break the cycle you have been taught by your parents because your children are innocent.
4. Please consider going to therapy and addressing the root cause behind your colurism. Dark skinned children are just as beautiful and their skin is not a badge of shame ‘ How can you claim to love your child but then tell them their skin is ugly, think before you speak!!
5. My final tip please love yourself first before you bring children into this world, they deserve more…….
